about
"Mr. Dassey" was written and inspired by the unjustified incarceration of Brendan Dassey in 2007, as portrayed and revealed in the Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer." Brendan’s conviction was overturned in August 2016, however the Wisconsin Department of Justice filed an emergency motion that has kept him in prison. This track is dedicated to Brendan and his family. We wish you courage and resilience in the ongoing appeal process.
lyrics
I came through this town
When the time came I wandered
To try to find you
Now we are both at risk
I don't know how to tell if I should turn back.
They came and stole my mind
Forged the motive that they wanted to hear.
Now I'm fucked, going away
Justice served here on this day, so they'll say.
They made me guilty
Corruption within so deep,
Don't you all see we're at their mercy.
As my life is taken now,
Endless time until that smell
Watch the killer runnin' wild
On and on it goes
I know that there is something to tell me
I know that there is something wrong
I know that there is something to tell me
I know that there is something wrong
I give back life's design to return here,
The air still breathes to me like I'm on the outside.
